1. Introduction & Data Controller

Junior Sports Academy ("we", "us", or "our") respects your privacy and is committed to protecting the personal data of both our athlete users and their parents/guardians in compliance with the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018.

2. Data We Collect

We collect the minimum information necessary to deliver safe, age-appropriate sports training programmes:

  • Parent/Guardian Data: Name, email address, contact number, and billing/payment details (processed securely via Stripe; we do not store full payment card details).

  • Athlete Data: Child's first name, age or date of birth (used strictly to allocate the correct age band under UK school-year cut-offs: U12–U14, U15–U16, or U17–U18), chosen sport, and training history/track level.

  • Training & App Usage Data: Session logs, effort/RPE ratings, training notes, and app interaction data.

  • Technical Information: IP address, browser type, device information, and essential session cookies required for platform functionality.

3. Why We Collect Your Data (Legal Basis)

  • Contractual Necessity: To create and deliver your training blocks, calculate age-group workouts, and process monthly subscriptions.

  • Legitimate Interests: To review training loads, monitor athlete safety, track progress, and improve our coaching programmes.

  • Consent: For sending promotional updates, coaching guides, or where parental consent is given for participation and progress sharing.

4. Children's Data & Safeguarding

Because our end-users are between 11 and 18 years old, we treat youth data with heightened care:

  • We do not sell child or parent data to any third party.

  • We do not use athlete data for behavioural or targeted advertising.

  • Athlete training logs and effort metrics are visible only to the registered user, supervising parent, and authorized JSA coaching staff.

  • All coaching interactions adhere to strict UK youth sport safeguarding standards.

5. Third-Party Service Providers

We only share data with vetted third-party service providers necessary to operate the service:

  • Payment Processing: Stripe (secure payment gateway).

  • Hosting & Database: Secure UK/EU-compliant cloud and backend infrastructure (e.g., Supabase, Netlify).

  • Analytics & Support: Internal tools used strictly for troubleshooting app performance and responding to support queries.

6. Data Retention & Security

We retain user data for the duration of the active subscription plus a reasonable period thereafter to resolve disputes or comply with tax obligations. You can request the full deletion of your account and your child's data at any time.

7. Your Legal Rights

Under UK data protection law, you have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you or your child.

  • Request rectification of inaccurate records.

  • Request erasure ("right to be forgotten") of your data.

  • Restrict or object to data processing.

  • Data portability.
